Re: Nitrate level
I have battled with nitrates as long as I can remember (about 40ppm out of the tap), all with limited success. Even plants did not do much for me (though I keep goldfish, they produce a lot of waste). I have spoken to Seachem and there are differences in their nitrate removing producs - some are onl...

Re: Ruth’s Jewel 350ltr
Don't know about Optima, but I've been recommended Esha Minaroll by my aquatic vet - it's vitamins and minerals (in my understanding it's kind of multi vitamin supplements for us). Haven't tried it yet so can't comment on its effectiveness

Re: Good brands
My neons are really picky and prefer goldfish food - Repashy or boiled crushed peas is their favourite. And my goldfish food cupboard (also freezer and fridge)... don't know where to start... Gamma and Alfa are the only frozen food brands I trust (as they are gamma radiated). For the dry food: Repas...

Re: Juwel LED lighting replacement
Thanks! I've swapped the Day and Nature around (Day at the back,Nature at the front), haven't noticed the difference :( I was also wondering whether too much of a bright light makes my goldfish lose their black pigmentation (I know it also depends on the genetics and nutrition, but I've read that th...

Re: Juwel LED lighting replacement
I have the Day one in front actually. I'll swap them around.
I was also wondering whether changing the light spectrum will affect the colour of my fish in any way (since fancy goldfish are selectively bred their colours are unstable).

Juwel LED lighting replacement
I have Juwel LED lights that came with my tank: one Day and one Nature bulb/tube. I was thinking of replacing a Day one as I found it to be too bright. Has anyone experimented with the Juwel light system (or a similar)? Here is the link to Juwel bulb colour range, if it's of any help: https://www.ju...

Re: White Spot returning???
White spot (ich) can be a pain. The difficulty is, as mentioned above, ich can only be killed during its free swimming stage - this is when the spots "fall off" the fish and are not visible. So it is easy to assume it has been cured. I battled with a bad outbreak of ich a while ago. Don't ...

Goldfish eggs... OMG...
A bit excited I might become a fish parent! Though I’m totally clueless and don’t know what I’m gonna do with the fry if any survive! [woo] but I’m so curious! My two butterflies, who I had for just over a month, spawned! There are about just over a dozen fertilised eggs (I put them in a net hatcher...
