Re: Stocking Order Question
If the tank is fully cycled, processing 2ppm of ammonia through to nitrates in 24 hours, then all the stock
can be added at once, doing it over several weeks will just allow some of the munchers to die off.

Re: Hi! New and confused
Add ammonia after the water change yes.
With a small water change of 20% the temp won't drop that much. I do 50% water changes and add some hot water to
what i put back in to approximate the temperature, I don't use a thermometer just by touch.

Re: Hi! New and confused
As you get more nitrites your nitrates will suddenly rocket, don't worry this is normal during a fishless cycle and suggests you are close to the end.
Do a 50% water change and retest after 24 hours. Looks like it is going well.

Re: Hi! New and confused
Top up the ammonia every day, it is not an exact science + or - 70 % doesn't make a difference, your tank will be
cycled when your nitrites go to zero every day for 3 days in a row. Once cycled your tank will instantly handle
any imaginable bioload that you might want to add.

Not any more, I used to on earlier tanks but getting too old for it now, I only test every 3 days, more if some readings are unexpected.

Re: Hi! New and confused
HI.
I always carry on dosing daily as not putting in ammonia will starve the ammonia munchers you have already grown.
If I think that the nitrites are a bit hi I do a 50% water change, this works well for me.
