Re: Dying CRS shrimp

The planaria must have come in on plants. It's very difficult with shrimp to get rid of them. If you have to treat plants then the copper treatments will kill the fish so you have to quarantine the plants for weeks after treatment with many water changes and running carbon to try and lower the amoun...

You shouldn't need to replace any of the media excet the carbon. Some of my media is 25+ years old.....

Re: Hi! New and confused

The trouble with using carbon is that it stops working after about 10 days, and it can get very expensive to keep changing the media.
The extra flow will probably make the endlers more active, my guppies always get so when the filter is cleaned and working at full force.... ;)

Re: Hi! New and confused

I doubt the tannins will do much in hard water anyway, it's more common for them to affect soft water.
As @fr499y says, the weekly changes will keep on top of it.
I still get some tannins in my tanks, and they're all pretty old setups now, up to 25 years..... ;)

Mine have gold eyes until they're about 2 months old, the singleton fry I got last time has now gone green (only the eyes, obviously! ;) :D)

Does the ph drop overnight if you leave tap water in a receptacle overnight, what is the ph in the tank normally?
I'm wondering if there's something else going on here....
