Plants for a riverscape

Thinking now about putting an order in for plants in my 400l tank, it's long and thin and I would like it to look like a clear water stream, already have a large variety of grass so can transfer the runners over, and the other day bought some Sessiliflora stems in bunches but no roots on them yet so will have to see how that goes
For the bottom I have some smooth pebbles will try to get a ground cover plant to grow over them maybe monte carlo
Anyone have any other ideas of plants that might look good? Would be easier to put them in now than later when it's full of water (and fish hopefully) Thanks
