Had a Rio 180 which is being replaced by a new Rio 350led after christmas.I don't know why, but I never had any faith in the Jewel internal filter so took it out and used an Eheim external instead.I'm just wondering what to do with the new tank - shall I give the internal filter a good tryout,or shall I junk it in favour of another external canister? Thoughts please.

I have no experience with the Juwel aquariums but love my Eheim external filters.
Removing an internal filter allows for more space for the fish whilst an external filter is easier to maintain.
All the best

I've had my Trigon for 20 years, all I did was uprate the pump to the 1000 from the 600.
More than adequate for the tank.

I think I'll keep the internal and add an external - you can never have too much filtration - question now is Eheim or Oase? Must say I WAS a big Eheim fan but that was before I saw the Osase. So opinions please.

I have a Juwel 350 LED - never upgraded the filter and I’m not one for understocking LOL! The filter that comes with has been great Just do your water changes and clean the sponges in tank water now and again. It’s a great filter!
Having said that .... I am considering getting it removed but purely for looks as the black box, now with all manner of algae growing on it is a bit of an eyesore. I may get someone I know to take it out and I will get an external filter.
Here’s mine now -
