The pic was from a few months ago when I first got him, maybe he caught his reflection, I can't really remember. He hasn't flared like that since, he's very docile.plankton wrote: Why is he flaring like that? - watch he doesn't "blow" his gills by doing it too often.....

Somethings definately in the air (or should that be water?). The Neons are at it aswell this morning, rushing through the plants spawning like mad. I think yesterday's water change was the trigger.

Yeah they normally manage it. They’ll then decide to breed every opportunity after that

To the tune of “the saints go marching in”:
Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful, they’re white Welsh and fluffy! Oh fluffy sheep are wonderful!

Now that you have three bristlenoses I think you will not see wrigglers again anytime soon. The b/n just bulldoze their way onto the nest, its like an open dinner table for them.
When I had kribs they had the advantage of being in a cave where the female could narrow the entrance by closing herself in and shifting the gravel. Your rams' egg out in the open are a lot more vulnerable to predation.
Re your previous fry: have you ever checked your filter in case any may be growing up in there?
