No secret @Ric the Superfish aquarium doesn't have it's own blog, and besides the Endlers are very shy plus they don't like publicity to much.

...are these the very same endlers you keep offering up? Seems a little shy-ness might do them good, might stop them breeding quite so much thenMartinspuddle wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:09 pmNo secret @Ric the Superfish aquarium doesn't have it's own blog, and besides the Endlers are very shy plus they don't like publicity to much.

Yes they are and oddly they seem to of stopped breed for time being ...think lack of room might have something to do with it, that and the shocking news today the @plankton hasn't changed his underwear in thirty yearsRic wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:22 pm...are these the very same endlers you keep offering up? I was going to say it wasn't me but see already solved I have snakes so used to have this stuff in the past when I had Brazilian Rainbow Boas which need high humidity. Wouldn't have occurred to me to put it in an aquarium though!

Anyway after much negotiations with the Endlers agent, they have finally agreed to have new pictures taken of their home ...their fee, one slice of cucumber.Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2020 12:09 pmNo secret @Ric the Superfish aquarium doesn't have it's own blog, and besides the Endlers are very shy plus they don't like publicity to much.
So just for @Ric ....THE SUPERFISH AQUARIUM!!!
Thank you Kermit.
I'm not going to give a run of the equipment, think we can see whats running here except the Tetra APS 50 air pump and that it's is a 20 litre aquarium. Stocking, Endlers, and more Endlers, Ramshorn Snails plus Neocaridina davidi Shrimps which didn't show for the party.
Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Green' in pots not so sure they are ...and Red water tiger lotus - Nymphaea rubra
To take these pictures I had to cut back the Guppy grass not the Endlers seem to mind to much.

Why, thank you very much @Martinspuddle - much appreciated and long overdue update of a successful tank.
Now I just need to remind you to update us on the progress of your other two tanks from time to time, in particular the Dead Fish Tank, and we're up-to-date

Very late reply lol... I now too have a 40-100 ltr spongefilter for my 64ltr tank in conjunction with my interpet CV2 filter that came with my aquarium...Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 7:33 am Time for changing the filters and this may well be controversial to some of you.
Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 17:50 pmSo why is it high risk, by squeezing the old sponge into the new sponge and returning both to the aquarium the filter has matured by the end of 5-6 weeks. I've done it with sponge and other types of filters for years.black ghost wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 13:54 pm Running the two together is high risk. There’s no reason for the bacteria to move from the old filter to the new, so when you remove the old one you’ll be removing most of the bacteria. The method doesn’t really make a lot of sense.
Just transfer the media into the new filter and swap it for the old one...plankton wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 7:40 am It is higher risk than just moving the media over.
At best it will split the colonies 50/50 across the two sets of media, so, when you remove one filter you will remove a lot of munchers.
They may hiccup when you move the media, depending on how much you have to play with the old media, but it's easier to cope with than losing a lot.
I've never had it hiccup though, and I've had to cut sponges all over the place on a couple of occasions......
Trust me I know what I'm doing, I have done this for years. I've never had any ill effects or losses through or due to changing over filters in this way and each time the volume of water is tested the ammonia never changes.
The two filters presently running in this 120 litre aquarium are rated for 320 litres each and I put these in originally because I knew the amount of fish involved with the Endlers population. With the current population of 26 fish I felt it was somewhat unnecessary to have such large filters it in either side of the aquarium so time for a change.
I purchased two Chinese made PK-220 sponge filters rated at 220 litres and as you can see from the image below so they are somewhat smaller and therefore taking a lot less room in each of the corners.
One of the new 220 litre sized filters has already been running in conjunction with the two other 320 litre filters for the last 6 weeks.
Having felt the new filter was mature enough I have now removed one of the 320 litre filters and squeezed it's contents into the second new filter, which is now running alongside the original PK220 mature sponge filter on the left-hand side of the aquarium.
I use easylife filter fluid medium added daily for the first 10 days @ 30ml per day after a new filter is placed in the aquarium. These two new filters will now run in conjunction with the old filter for six to eight weeks with constant monitoring and testing.
The Lotus Lilies are now coming up everywhere and filling the tank, so it won't be long before I will have to start pinching them out so they don't swamp the aquarium.
You said that when your new filter was "matured" you squeezed the content of the old filter in to the new one...
Did you mean simply squeeze it in to the water near the new filter to absorb the bacteria? (n00b question lol)
As i do want to remove my CV2 filter in a few months as its ugly and has a large footprint lol.
