So I was at our local store with my son looking to add some more creatures to our aquarium. He spotted these weird alien looking snails and had his heart set on them. I quizzed the staff and they reassured me that these would be ok for our tank but I'm starting to think they were a mistake.
I'm concerned they are too big for the tank and they will destroy all the plants. We have a 50l tank with 6 neons and lots of plants. It's a shrimp and plant substrate and the plants are thriving so much I have to trim them twice per week.
Really I'm looking for reassurance or suggestions on how to deal with the hungry little beasts as they already chomping off bits of plants that are now floating on the surface.

Pop some fresh veg like courgette or spinach (blanch that first) and see if that keeps them off the plants.
If at first you don't succeed....

Have a look here
Sounds like you should be ok. They might eat dead or dying plants but should leave live, healthy ones alone.

I agree with Plankton. I’ve had rabbit snails for years and not had them eat healthy plants. If they are then it would indicate they don’t have enough food. So try the veg (weigh it down with a spoon or some plants weights). Ours love courgette.

If the assassin was hungry enough you may have a problem. We’ve separated ours now as he’s getting old and didn’t want him to be attacked. Ours were always fine together as there was always plenty of MTS for the assassins to eat but I wouldn’t want to guarantee anything.
