What does the boss think of Apistogrammas, do they meet her approval?

What a stunner :) I can't be much help I'm afraid @mikeyw64

It is exciting deciding on what fish to get for your tank though. Can't wait to see what you end up with :D

She's started to day things "well I like, but it's your tank" :)
That's slightly familiar, I get "it's your money, you do what ever you want"

But the best comment I think I ever had was my ex-mother in law, having spent £9000 on a new kitchen, on seeing it she said "well you got to live it"

If you go for apistos I would avoid the gourami or angels. Angels because they’re both cichlids and gourami because of attitudes.
Its a nice looking orange flash in the pic :) Jayne (my male) is part orange as his mum was orange, his dad (Bubba) was a double red.
Just remember to get only one male apisto, as they will fight otherwise and cause each other some serious injury, dislocated jaws for one example, its also something to look out for when you get them :)

Aye , I was thinking (if I do go the Apisto route) 1 male & 2-4 females

Have you considered bolivian or blue rams?

My shoaling fish i went for was the Lemon tetra - although you dont see them at that many fish shops i've found

Yeah, i know that feeling. I've just been going through all this myself, what i will say is rainbow fish, whilst not at all impressive in the LFS - give them a few months in a tank and they just keep getting better and better!

Same can be said for a shoal of congo tetra

Its horrible isnt it :D
