Hi folks, I'm Moz, 36 from Northumberland.
I've kept fish on and off for over 20 years now, currently I have a 48x15x18" community tank which seems to be thriving.
I have 2 male guppies 1 a tuxedo and the other is a Japanese Blue both between 5-8 month old.
2 Panda Corydora.
3 Sterbia (or however it's spelt) Corydora
2 Albino Corydora
I have 3 females, 2 snake skin and one random.
Sail fin Pleco who's around 8" in length called James
A blue opal dwarf gourami named Marvin.
A 3 spot Gourami named Susan
A honey Gourami named Geraldine.
And a dwarf flame Gourami named Mary Jane
And around 40 neon Tetra.
2 X aqua one L.e.d lamps 12-24" (ISH)
All ponds solution ef1000
And an air pump (unsure of brand or performance)
I've recently bought a 6x2x2ft aquarium. Which will be set up in the near future, I just need to enforce the floors as my downstairs is floorboards and not concrete.
I'm currently just in debate of which route I want to go. Which is one of the reasons I joined this forum.

Hi Moz welcome to the forum
Would love to hear how you get on reinforcing the floor. Mine are floorboards too. We had some of them replaced after a flood, and my 5ft tank seems okay on them. Like you however I have a Sailfin, so maybe I will have to look at strengthening them when I look for a bigger tank. Will you be doing it yourself?
Stephen I know you have a 6ft tank. Is your floor concrete?
ETA I don't mean the floorboards under the tank itself have been replaced. Just realised my post is a bit confusing

Hi fishtales, thanks.
I've found some floor jack's that hold 18'000 lbs each for £30 on Amazon they're adjustable, I'm thinking of putting down a paving slab with a 1/4" metal plate (to reduce the risk of the pavers cracking), I plan on half filling the tank, after the supports are set in place, for 1 week to allow the floor to sage etc or at least give tell tale signs, then I'll adjust the jack's again before filling it completely for a further week, to have final adjustments made them I'll be pouring around 4" base of concrete to make sure nothing at all will move (the tank finished will weigh around 1000kg, with 6 supports I'll be able to support 48'000 kg) or flex.
I'll be helping with all the work myself as I have a close friend who is a landscape Gardner and says the task should be similar to building decking for a jacuzzi etc.
But knowing my addictive personality I'll end up with another 3-4 tanks by summer which will mean alot more of the same

Thanks for the details Moz. Super helpful, I must admit I worry about my 5ft tank and the weight is something that has put me off getting a bigger tank. This would certainly make me more inclined to upgrade my tank.
Thanks again, and keep us updated when you start the process please
