It should eventually disappear, almost as suddenly as it it appears.
Make sure the flow is going right around the tank and there's no "dead" areas.
Lights should only be on 6-8 hours, no less, no more.
It should rub off, so do that when you do water changes.

If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it!
Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Thanks, that is very reassuring. I will clean it on my next water change. Looks pretty nasty especially kn the castle ornament. Rest of the tank seems fine. The castle is directly under the light as well. Maybe I am keeping the light on for too long as well - 12 hours. Learning a lot though, thanks to you all ?

Plankton. "...It should eventually disappear, almost as suddenly as it it appears...." Mine did exactly that, after about 3 days! Now the greenie stuff has appeared. At least I prefer that colour to brown.
Been busy today, clearing the algae. I managed to get most of it. Fish tank does look a lot cleaner and clearer now. My next question....I came across a website that says UV Sterilization really helps in fish tanks? Any ideas? Thanks

UV can help if the UV is strong enough and the flow rate is spot on for the UV to work.Jassy306 wrote: Been busy today, clearing the algae. I managed to get most of it. It will help kill off the algae spores and also deal with parasites but the flow rate needs to be reduced to deal with parasites.
You can also employ a clean up crew to deal with the algae such as nerite snails.
