So the tank water temperature will be around 25/26C in that case. :)

Yes  :D

Just had a glance at the tank and saw something on the glass..  looks like a little snail, I saw another too. Should I be alarmed by this? Should I just remove them when and where I see them?  Tanks been running for 3 weeks and this is the first I’ve seen them!

Looks like Ramshorn snails. Would have been on some plants you've added.. If you don't want them you can manually remove as soon as you see them and youll eventually get on top of them or you can get an assassin snail or 2 and they'll sort it.

Ah darn it.. Is there any benefit to having them? I guess I’ll just remove em when I see them and hope they don’t get out of control   thanks!

They are great for cleaning up uneaten food and they’ll eat a little bit of algae. The flip side is if you overfeed then you’ll have an explosion in numbers. It can be controlled and dealt with so it’s not too bad. Many people like to have snails (I think they’re awesome :D ). Don’t overfeed, keep the tank clean and you shouldn’t have too many problems.

If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Damn..  So I done my big water change at around 3am this morning as I wanted to stock up today with the tetra’s before I started work, but my temps haven’t levelled out yet and my nitrates are still too high (20ppm)  :dodgy:  I’m working all day today and tomorrow so I’ll have to wait until Sunday now to stock up..  my patience is being truly tested

20ppm nitrates aren’t high at all. That’s half what my tap levels are :)
