Hi Mully.

I keep a few Otos and my water's fairly hard (not quite your liquid rock, though!).
They're great little algae-eaters, always working over the plants, rocks & glass.
Yes, they're a little 'delicate' and you'll often get unexpected losses, but they won't create nearly as much mess (and the associated heavier bioload) as a Plec.

Hahaha I had no idea my water hardness was going to cause such stress!

I like Otos but it's the full lips stuck the glass that gives my daughter the joy and I don't think they'll cut the mustard sadly.

I've already had to break it to an 8 year old that she can't have Cardinals so I'm trying to avoid doing the same with the pleco lol

You can have a Bristlenose but will have to upgrade the filter.
Upgrading to the SuperFish Aqua-Flow 400 internal filter costs only £27.99 on Amazon. Link
A small price to keep your 8 years old happy. :)

As the Bristlenose won't get introduced until next year some time I reckon I'll do that. I hope it'll fit into the gap for the 300.

Hi All.....back with another question I'm afraid.....someone I work with just asked me the question...."do you not have a pump as well as a filter?".....do I need one? I thought the Aqua-Flow 300 internal filter was all I required.
Thanks

Hi Mully. The pump's integrated into the filter unit.
There's a small electric motor in the top part that uses magnetism to spin an impeller. That draws the water up through the lower casing (through the sponges/media) and out through the spout at the top.

Brilliant Baddams, that's what I assumed but didn't want to make a shcoolboy error. Thanks for your help.
