Tank stocking?

Post by Shacey90 »

Hi guys,

I have a rough idea of how many fish I can have but just wanted to check with you guys first!

We have a 105l long tank and we want to stock it with;

12 guppies
6 rasboras
3 zebra loaches
And 1 or 2 swordtails.

Does this sound ok??

Thanks

Hello and welcome :)

Have you tried the stocking calculator at aquadvisor.com?
It lets you enter the tank and filter size, then select the fish you want to stock.
It will advise what parameters the fish require and warn of any fish that may not be ok with other fish.
Marina Vue 87L - 4 Harelquin Rasbora, 2 Honey Gourami, 9 Panda Cory, 6 Cherry Barb, 4 Amano Shrimp
Filtration Fluval 207

What are the actual dimensions of this 105l?
Loaches do better in groups of more than 5, that's why I ask.

Well, it's just big enough for 5 zebra loaches, but your selection has softwater and hardwater fish in it, what is your tapwater like?
You can find out from the supplier's website and popping in your postcode. :)

Thanks. Our water is soft up here! Pretty much most of the Scottish highlands is soft.

@Shacey90 just watch out for how soft the your water is, Guppies and Swordtails do like the hard stuff. :]
...I'm going for long drive to check if my piles to are OK

Yes, it will be too soft for swordtails, and probably too soft for guppies.
Guppies need about 7 dGH as a minimum, swordtails about 10dGH.
