Got my first sleeve of frozen food today (daphnia) , what is the best way to use these, just drop them in or thaw out first in tank water then put in?? How often do i use them?
Thanks

I use a small jar/shot glass and collect some tank water, thaw out the cube/half a cube depending on stocking levels in that for 30mins minimum and then pour into tank.

Defrost it first in a little water or on a saucer, whatever. You can feed it daily.

Take how much you give your fish per week ...Daphnia can work like a laxative if given too often.

I didn't know this. Suggest keeping in fridge between feeds? I've been putting a whole cube in every few days, massively over feeding for my stock. I assumed once it was defrosted it had to be used straight away. I have a small fridge in the garage where the tanks are kept.

Use a sharp knife (I have a sharp penknife) and cut what you need, pop in a small shot glass/eggcup with some tank water to defrost and then feed. If the container is on the tank I find it haws enough by the time I've fed the dry food, but I do have 4 tanks....the remainder can be put back in either the freezer, or the fridge (as it will be more defrosted for the next day).
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! :D

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Cut a frozen cube in half, as plankton says. But I wouldn’t keep it for long once it’s thawed…. although Ian does and has no trouble with it…
