One of my 4 Platys )one of the orange ones) does occasionally get grumpy, but only with one of the black Platys, never seems to worry about any of the other residents (unless , hmmm I wonder, log update coming)

It may actually be a bit soft for platies. The guppies should be ok though.
Have a look at some of the rasboras, but don't pick a big one like the silvertip. ;)

Lost our first fish last night, typical when I'm away from home with work. :(

It was the weakest one (our favourite) who'd started losing his tail, my wife found him hidden in the corbo root. Youngest daughter is predictably distraught. I'll test and change water again when I get back tomorrow, fingers crossed for the rest of em.

Really didn't expect it to affect me this much...

The first is the worst, sorry for your loss. :(
After 60 years it gets a bit easier. ;)

I personally don't trust any test strips :O
Just don't find them to be accurate or consistent, I would suggest buying a full test 'lab' or set of liquid testers, API are for some reason the most common, but I much prefer NT Labs brand Aquarium lab, and JBL Combi test kits, the latter has a pH 6 to 7.6 test which is the one I use all the time for its accuracy

Thanks guys, the rest were doing ok this morning apparently. Can't wait to get back home.

@jacksdad I do have the liquid API kit, ammonia was 0.25ppm, nitrite 0, nitrite 6 before the water change on Sunday. And I'll be testing/changing water daily for a while just in case.

Have you tested your tap water? My 1st API kit used to show a greeny tinge even from the tap water.
But the change(s) after a loss are a good idea :)

Hi all.

We've had no losses since Fred (the guppy). Just added 6 skunk Corys, 5 more guppies, and 3 beautiful Gourami over the last couple of weeks. 25 fish in total, and feels complete now. Much more as I imagined it to be.

I think I'm fully stocked although maidenhead think I could add a few more, but I cant access aqadvisor...
