Changing colour

6 months ago my CT was in danger of over-population so I gave a number of fish away to local enthusiasts. Among those given away was a shoal of Zebra Danios, but I was unable to catch one who remained in the CT. Ever since then he has gradually changed colour until he has no longer any typical Zebra stripes but is now absolutely totally silver. Is this natural for them to change their hue? Old age perhaps?
