Sexing appistogramma cockatoo

Would you say these were male and female, looking at the colouration I would have said so.

Sorry about the pic they are quite active and I struggle to get them together.

Both female, unless its the gold bodied variant.
Best way to tell is females have black front edges to their ventral fins, they can have some colour in their other fins but its not as pronounced or as much as males. Males also tend to be silver bodied and much bigger than females (sometimes twice the size), and have colour/pattern as well as extensions on their fins.

I will see if I can get some better pics there only the size of a cardinal tetra at the min

Too young to sex then at that size, I woulda thought. And males can hold back their sexual development...
