There has been some changes in this tank, not with the decor but with the fish,
Firstly I tried to add in some Reed fish I had been waiting to put them in until last but it was a disaster, I was unable to quarantine them as they are such escape artists I didn't have a suitable tank so they went straight in the main tank, of course the 1 time it's not possible to QT they bought in a disease which once it showed was quickly fatal, ended up loosing not only the reed fish but also several of the other fish in there, however it responded quickly to treatment so it could have been a lot worse.
After this I totally lost enthusiasm for keeping it as African so have been researching and thinking what to do for a couple of months, lake Tanganyika was seriously considered, but I don't really want my biggest tank to be devoid of plants and wood, I decided I just wanted a peaceful tank with colour and variety.
I have kept most of the existing fish except for the Tetra which were a chunky size and very active they were upsetting the other much slower fish, have kept the colourful banded barbs, the lovely slender lionhead pair, yellowtail Congo and Red Eye Tetra also kept the Clipper Barbs and all my Synodontis, plus had to add in a few fish from other tanks like Leopard Danio,
However tank was still fairly empty looking, that is until recently, not long ago I bought myself a nice group of Orange Chromide Cichlids, I had researched them as a possible among others, but it was not until I saw them in the flesh that I knew I wanted them, sometimes you really have to see a fish in person to know,
The colour is quite subtle which I like, I also like the disc shape of them and how they move about in a group, they are the main fish in there so I guess this is now the Chromide's tank, I would like to re scape it but that will have to wait a while, I would also like to add in some Parkinsoni Rainbowfish but that will also have to wait as they are not the cheapest fish to buy, anyway here is the reason for this update my lovely Orange Chromides

I have a couple of Angel fish which have been transferred to this tank, they got a bit big for the 200 that they grew out in, took a couple of pics of them today when the sun was on the tank, don't often get chance to see them this way so that was nice, bit concerned the pale one looks red behind the pectoral fins, only noticed when it got moved to this tank, is this something I should be treating? or is it just the result of better light on a pale fish?

I would say that’s just better lighting showing the gill tissue (as you can see the lips have that same hue under the scales).

Ok thanks, I was hoping this would be the case, but there was always that bit of doubt so feeling relieved, he or she is quite a big fish now quite different to the small thing fished out of the shop tank

Fluval 200 so should be deep enough, also spent 8 weeks in the shallow stream tank which is not deep enough so perhaps that affected them, but they had to wait until I got rid of the African Micralestes Tetra out of the 500 as these would have been too much for them.
