So nothing much has happened with this one.
Plants seem to have stabilised added a small dose of liquid CO2, but want to avoid ferts at the moment as the filter is still fairly new.

Cherry shrimps have gone AWOL. In the past week I've seen one (the largest - but still small) and another small one briefly. On both occasions they were causing much interest from the five banded barbs....I'm hoping they are hiding away, but fear that they've been disposed of...

If at first you don't succeed....

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

I'm not a snail owner nor want snails.
I have in the past totally emptied my big aquarium and cleaned it to get rid of snails.
I buy plants only from reputable sites now and not from local stores or ebay.
The best sites I use for plants are Aquarium Gardens, Aqua Essentials and Pro Shrimp as their plants come chemical-free and 99.9% snail-free.

I figured that because they were 2/3 of the size of the barbs that they'd be ok...

Got the substrate from Kenchester, but the shrimp and barbs were from Telford.

I've not visited Ripples Waterlife at Telford for quite a while. :(

It's on the way home from some of my sites, so pretty convenient... despite being an hour away.

I'm impressed with them overall - really good range of both fish and equipment.
