I've always wanted to go to one of these events but they don't seem to happen in the south west!Andys temperate tank wrote: ↑Sat Nov 05, 2022 8:24 am Oasis fish auction.

@Andys temperate tank don't buy colour morphs, you'll have better success keeping the wild form together.
WARNING - DO NOT BREED, FEED OR PET THE PUDDLE!

Well what a waste of time that turned out to be.
Probably 75% of the lots we're live bearers. There was dirty tanks, filters that might not work, bags of junk people didn't want. The auctioneer even got arsey when people weren't bidding on things.
And to top it off the angels I was interested in got described as mixed koi angels so I didnt bid. I wasn't impressed when I saw 1 koi and the other 9 were wild form.
On the plus side I met a bloke who breeds angels fairly local to me. I got his phone number so I might get some fish off him during the week.

Yes, you'll still have aggression issues during spawning but no where as bad as with the colour morph Angelfish I found. If you can find some wild imported Pterophyllum Scalare (not something I advocate but if they sustainably caught fish then it's not so bad) they seem better natured than their captive bred cousins but I will warn you, they not cheap to buy.
WARNING - DO NOT BREED, FEED OR PET THE PUDDLE!

Have you ever kept leopoldi angels?

P. Leopoldi are supposed to be smaller but I've read some have said they can be more aggressive than P.Scalare.
I'd research them before buying.
Seriouslyfish - P. Leopoldi

If you do get Pterophyllum leopoldi, find out if they wild caught and if so what water parameters they been kept in.
I've of people losing them as wild caught are found in very low pH, some as low as 4.
If their tank bred from Germany or Holland they should be fine.
