Hi all, haven’t been on for a while, hope you’ve all been behaving yourselves.
Been messing about with the the landscaping in the the tank.
Long story short, moved rocks plants around, took some plants out, now when I have the tank light on it look like it’s been snowing.
White specks circulating at the top of the tank, filter intake not collecting them, managed to get most of the top of the tank using kitchen paper, thinking it’s some kind of bio film.
Very small white speck debris also floating around mid section of the tank, can’t seem to shift it, been a few days now.
Prior to rearranging rocks, removing/replacing plants, water was very clear.
Have done large water change and filter has been cleaned, still snowing a bit.
I’m using the Fluval 407 filter on the Fluval 240 Roma tank.
I think I could be to do with disturbing the substrate and hoping it will settle down again, any advice welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Is it snowing?

Purchase a small Allpondsolutions skimmer and run that for a few days and the tank will be crystal clear

just near the top, anywhere you want to put it. The top section floats so you might need to play with the position a bit to get it right. Also if you get one, close the bottom dial as you want as much as possible to be skimmed.
I used to keep one on hand for the first few weeks of setting up a tank just to collect floating bits.

Had the skimmer going for around 5 hours now and it's still snowing, see pic.
Not quite sure we're to go next with this issue.
Parameters all fine, did 50% water change yesterday, filters been cleaned.
The particles just seem to be to very light to be collected by the skimmer and intake and just keep moving in a circular motion around most of the tank.
I recently found some rocks that had been in the tank before and put them back into the tank , one on them made a sizzling noise when added and bubbles came off it. Don't know if this has anything to do with the snowing issues?
Any help appreciated.

If it's limestone or similar it could be that, how acidic is the ph?
If at first you don't succeed....

I would try an additional internal filter packed with fine filter floss, also add in a binding agent that will clump the particles together to make it easier for the filter to remove them something like API accu clear (there are others), large water changes will also help, this has worked for me in the past when setting up or re vamping tanks, it's quite normal I just see it as part of the process now.

Not a bad shout with the aqua clear and keep running the little skimmer.
