For floating particles and oily film I use a Eheim Skim 350 which literally skims the surface. I probably use it for about 10 minutes and the job is done. I use newspaper for oily films. For floating particles and oily film I use a Eheim Skim 350 which literally skims the surface.
I probably use it for about 10 minutes and the job is done.

Are they the plastic ones? Well they have a surface area but their main use is as the first medium in the filter, to trap ‘the big bits’. I agree. The bioballs have minimal use as biological media. Andys temperate tank I am a keen photographer (when I can get out). I am also a keen Genealogist (family trees) and thoroughly enjoy researching my own family tree and other's family trees.
