Re: Brown flowing stuff?

Once I saw a tank where the guy allowed the algae to cover his plants (mainly crypts, if I recall), wood, caves etc and I thought that looked quite cool. All that movement, wafting back and forth. Maybe it was the light he had on the tank or whatever but in my memory it even looked green, making th...

Re: A tank for Lauren

Just out of curiosity, how hard is the water in Ilkeston? If it's a lot harder (which I think it might be - around 15dGH?) it may be worth ramping up the bicarb......

Re: GL’s multiple tank log

That is an eye-opener that algae is caused by wives working from home - should that be the first question we ask on all the "I've got algae in my tank(s)" threads? Does your wife work from home? :P ROFL ...amend according to personal circumstances, of course. Not everyone's OH is "wife" ;) Oh, if i...

Re: Are potato's safe?

The main reason I wouldn't feed raw potatoes is because of the solanine and chaconine that's in them raw. Cooking detoxifies these. Sweet potatoes don't have these, but do have oxalates which can cause kidney stones if too much is eaten raw (apparently). The receptionist obviously didn't realise tha...

Re: Too much decor?

I found it really difficult to get the decor right in the Trigon, the shape is difficult to split into thirds as you'd normally do it. The filter bring in the back corner also makes it difficult to sort AND get flow right around the tank. I do like them and have enjoyed mine for 21 years nearly, but...

You could have gone in and taken the assassin out and have them attack your hand........ ;)
Both tanks look great, and it's nice to have the same type of tank decorated differently - great comparison. :)

Re: Metal fish tank stand

Welcome to the forum. :) Yes, I would agree that it would be essential if the glass would be going directly onto the metal otherwise, although it looks like it might have a ridge front and back, and you wouldn't want glass at the sides touching the metal either, so yes, a top of some kind that takes...
