Re: Hi! New and confused

If you get three days of double zeros then it's done (I take it you are still adding ammonia....).

Re: Stocking Order Question

Welcome to the forum. :) If the cycle has completed, and the nitrates are below 20ppm it should be ok to add shrimp at any time, or you could add a female bristlenose (they do a better algae-clearing job than males). If the BN is big it may think small shrimp are food (they are omnivores), so I woul...

Re: Sick swordtail

They're probably under stress. It may be that that they've come from poor stock, or that the tank is too small (I would only keep them in a tank that was longer than 3'6"), or a combination. I notice you've raised the GH to 12, so that should be ok for them - how are the other fish? Are they sh...

Re: Feeding fry in a community tank

Just powder up some granules or whatever you use until they're about 3/4 inch long.
I have small protein granules for the smaller corys, so that seems to be ok as well.

Re: Hi! New and confused

I would suggest putting the test tubes on a sheet of white paper to cut out the darkness of the surface. ;)
The only time the ph will drop is when it's soft(ish) water, and then you don't want it to go below 6.2.

Re: Electric Blue RAM with a spot

The hard water won't be helping - blue rams are very fussy about water, it must be soft, and the temp needs to be at least 27C. The cory would also do better in softer water, but really needs it a bit cooler than the ram. I suggested those meds as they aren't harsh for starters. If you had labyrinth...
