Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

@blackghost I used an Interpet product for finrot at the stated dose. The fish seemed to turn sedated and the next morning was a scene of devastation. They're on day 3 of their crash diet today, and after some maintenance I'll give them a little bit of food. Thanks everyone for your help. I'll also ...

Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

Thanks everyone for taking a look and responding. I'll put them on a diet. I forgot to mention that I do fast them for 1 day per week, but point taken if they're too fat they're too fat. The flake I use is tetra tropical formula and I crumble it in with submerged fingers to stop it sitting in the su...

Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

Thanks everyone for your responses. I haven't checked parameters recently but I'll do and report back. I do a 40% water change weekly. Usually I also do a gravel vac too, or rather I usually hoover over the sand, then agitate and hoover over it again. I'm recovering from a sports injury at the momen...

Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

Well, after 12mths plus of relative peace, it's all kicking off with the Tiger Barbs.. I don't know which of these events are possibly connected, but I'll list what happened and hopefully someone can make sense of it: I started with 13 Tiger Barbs, all bought at the same time, and once out of quaran...

Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

Hi @towerp apologies for the late reply, I didn't see your post. Are you sure it's other tigers causing the damage and not the shark? I think I've just got lucky with my lot, but there is one smaller tiger that presumably is at the bottom of the pecking order. He mainly stays away from the main shoa...

Re: What’s this growing on my driftwood?

+1 for boiling water.

I get a bit of black algae after a while. I set the wood down outside, pour a kettle of boiling water all over it and after a quick scrub to get the worst off it goes back in the tank and is good for about 6 months.

Re: Tiger barbs.. Gulp! Advice and comments appreciated

Tigerbarb update: All good in the hood. The only notable thing is that during the summer I was keeping the light off to reduce the tank temperature, and now the weather has cooled, and the light is back on, the tigers were initially very reclusive and hiding in among the plants! Over the past couple...

Re: Quarantine Tank Setup

Just to add, the only thing that annoys me about the fluval u2 being switched between tanks is that the suckers holding on the housing bracket are incredibly strong and difficult to get a nail under to remove the vacuum. Replacement brackets are only about £10-£15 on eBay, so it might be worth buyin...
