My Dwarf Gourami has a swim bladder problem, is there a definite cure? in the past this usually doesn't end well.

Same here, I use the Co2 Art regulator and Adams gas supplier after the initial cost it's cheap to run and reliable, good luck.

Don't rip it all out, fast growing plants help to control algae, follow Martins link it's a good site. If you really want a good planted scape you might want to think about Co2, most carpet plants need Co2, I can recommend Hydrocotyle tripartita for a beginner. https://i.postimg.cc/KvWNxHSk/IMG-0480...

Re: Lighting
Whatever new lighting you choose make sure you can alter the light intensity, I recently upgraded my LED lighting and had a lot more algae especially near the top of the tank,
I have now cured this by reducing the intensity down to 60% previously 100%

Re: Early Days
The Fissidens Fontanus moss top left of pic has died, despite my increased Co2 and improved lighting and I don't know why. I ordered it from e bay about two weeks ago and it arrived sandwiched between two sheets of netting mesh, so I attached it to the red wood with cotton and waited for it to grow....

Re: Aggressive Gouramis
If they are both males chances are you would be better off taking one back to where you got it from, otherwise the bulling probably wont stop.
A photo would be nice.

Re: adm's 1st tank
Adam, your mosses look amazing! can you remember what they are? I started with Christmas moss bit I'm disappointed with it. Thanks! It's mainly plain old Java Moss (Taxiphyllum Barbieri) if I remember correctly. There is some Riccia Fluitans kind of mixed in with some of it, but I am slowly getting...
