Re: Quarantine Tank Setup
Just to add, the only thing that annoys me about the fluval u2 being switched between tanks is that the suckers holding on the housing bracket are incredibly strong and difficult to get a nail under to remove the vacuum. Replacement brackets are only about £10-£15 on eBay, so it might be worth buyin...

Re: Quarantine Tank Setup
I have a fluval U2 sitting in my display tank for this reason, and it gets moved into the quarantine tank when I buy new fish. My quarantine tank lives in the garage empty with an old sheet over it to stop it getting dusty. Regarding medication, I've opted to not store any medication but to buy it a...

Re: Supplementary Filtration
I have a little U2 filter in my tank in addition to the bioflow with standard pump and the U2 is inaudible, but it's an eyesore. I only have it in there while my quarantine tank is stood empty. I recently removed my wavemaker, which was very noisy, and replaced it with a surface skimmer which is ver...

Re: Juwel Trigon 190 Lighting
Hi @Drax1 and welcome
There should be little rubber gaskets between the tubes themselves and the collars that screw them to the light housing. These ensure that everything stays watertight
What's going in there?

Re: Will a surface skimmer provide enough agitation?
I fitted the surface skimmer on the weekend and without the wavemaker going the whole aquarium is whisper quiet. It makes short work of any surface slick and I'm very pleased with it in those respects. However, after 4 years of having either an airstone on the go or an underwater fan pointing upward...

@plankton
Yes the plan is to leave it on 24/7.
Hopefully it's quiet!

Will a surface skimmer provide enough agitation?
Hi fishkeepers I've just ordered one of those surface skimmers to remove the film that builds up on the surface in readiness for the group of Golden Wonder Panchax that I'll be buying, and a thought occurred to me: Can I do away with the underwater wavemaker fan that I point upwards to agitate the s...

Re: Tank Temperature
I have a glass mercury thermometer in the tank and also a juwel digital one.
I use the digital one for a quick glance and can always check it against the mercury one to see if they agree.

Re: Bucketless water change.
I hope you're doing well following your surgery. I use a length of hose to syphon dirty tank water out into the garden. Afterwards I then take the loose end of hose upstairs to the bathroom and fill a trugg to the right temperature in the bathtub and add dechlorinator. I then put the hose in the tru...
