Angels with a big appetite!
#1
My angel fish have a heck of an appetite and I'm wondering if I should be feeding them something other than the run of the mill foods? They literally follow me as I walk past the tank!

They have a reasonably varied diet of flake, micro pellets, dried and frozen bloodworm & daphnia.

Should I be feeding them with a more substantial cichlid pellet, wafer or crisp? (this may also help the other fish get to some of the food before they do!)

Most fish will “beg” for food when they realise your the one feeding them. And most fish will eat as much as you put in for them.
You cause more problems by overfeeding than underfeeding, as excess food can rot and cause spikes or if the fish eat too much they can become bloated, either where they struggle to pass or where the stomach presses on the swim bladder causing balance issues.
Just make sure to soak the dried (freeze dried?) foods before feeding Smile

Yes, it's a good point. I've always been wary of over-feeding and just wondered if I was feeding too little! All of my other fish (rainbows, danios, endlers etc) all lose interest once they have fed for a while. Not these guys, they'd have your hand off!!

I'll stick to being the mean guy that hands over the small portions of food Big Grin

Aside from that i have found that cichlids (well my apistos, all of them even the fry we had) would come up to the glass face to face and follow us. They always seem curious as to who’s in “their” area.
