Hello
#1
hi all,

I joined the forum last year but haven't really posted so thought I'd start again Smile

I have had an aquarium for over 30 years, starting with an 18" coldwater tank, then onto a 3ft 130l tank before moving onto a 288l 4ft tank!

This tank had been set up in my current home for 7 years (6 years in the previous place) with various fish over time. The last photo I had of it was a bit low on stock, you can see guppies, neons and a rainbowfish.

Basically I got it back up to capacity with more Rainbowfish, some Rosy Barbs, Bronze Corys and Gold Tetras. It was looking really nice until I had a bit of a filter disaster...

My filter started leaking. Only a small leak so the water level didn't drop noticeably, but enough to soak into the cabinet below, ruin some paperwork, cardboard boxes, etc, but the main issue was that it soaked into the mdf cabinet which started to expand a little.

I braced it up with some wood temporarily but I was worried about it long term so started looking at my options. I found a few sellers on eBay with the same tank/cabinet with the idea of buying them to use the cabinet. I also considered making one which was fairly straight forward plus there was a guy selling a setup including a 5ft tank, cabinet, filter and lights.

Long story short, I ended up going for a brand new tank because the overall cost including a new filter was only slightly more, plus I'd be getting warranties with the new purchases.

New tank is from Maidenhead Aquatics and a Seabray 48" tank with cabinet.

I planning to start a new thread in the logs section if anyone is interested on my progress!

Thanks for the welcome Smile

I have enjoyed other forums but I think coming to a UK based one means there are more people with similar situations and experiences than say people in the US.
