hello - getting back into fishkeeping
#1
Hi all,

I have posted a few times already in other subforums, but I thought I'd say hi here.

I'm Rob, and I live in Cambridge. I have been out of fish-keeping for about 5 years, partly enforced due to moving cities, and partly because it used to be a large part of my job, and I needed a break.

I have kept and bred many of the commonly available freshwater fish at some point (and some not so common). The exception to that are the Rift Valley cichlids, which I am trying now (see post in the cichlid subforum). I have also never really kept rainbows of any description.

I used to be the membership secretary for the British Cichlid Association, but that seems to have folded now.

Back when I was an undergraduate I worked in an LFS in the holidays.

Weirdest fish I have ever kept was the Somali well fish (Phreatichthys andruzzii), which needs a temperature of 32 degrees C! Never managed to breed it sadly, although I did get some spawning behaviour.

I plan to have 3 main tanks in my house, one of which is being cycled at the moment.

Looking forward to chatting to you all on the forums.

Rob
