Sorry it's not very clear, but the bulge is quite prominent.

Doesn't look quite right to me, maybe dropsy or something? I'm sure the peeps on here will let us know soon! I have 9 zebra danios, they are great to watch, love them Smile

Oh no, if it is dropsy, it it treatable? Is it contagious?

Like I said it may not be! I remember seeing a similar picture and that was the answer. If it is, I'm sure its treatable same with most illness

What other fish do you have in the tank? Looks more like a live bearer with that belly, in all seriousness though hopefully treatable.
How long have you had them?

Had them about 6 weeks. The other fish are white cloud mountain minnows and some small orangy/yellow fish whose name escapes me. All the fish, including the bloated one seem happy enough. I do weekly treated water changes about 50%.

Do the scales stick out like they’re spikey looking, that can be a sign of dropsy? I’ve never kept danios to be honest so someone with more knowledge on them will help further 😀
Have you had all the fish for 6 weeks or just the danios?
Sorry for all the questions 😀

There’s a couple of fish there that look a bit overweight/full as the bulge looks towards the front. I would give them a couple of starve days then maybe feed a blanched pea. I usually do this by putting a pea in a cup with some hot/boiling water and microwaving it for 30sec-1min, then deshell and feed the fish the mush inside. This might help with the bloating and is good practice to do every now and again.

And Hell is afraid I’ll take over! 😈

P.s. No "pine coning" either, just looks bloated.
And the yellowish/orange fish I referred to earlier, are also danios, I've been told.

Thanks, I have 8 fish in the tank. Should I just feed them 1 pea? Is that their food for the day?

No, there's no pine-coning, just bloated. All fish bought at same time.
