Tetra Nitrate test problem
#1
Photo
Hi all, and forgive me for all the questions which this newbie may ask in the future. My tank is in the 4th week of the Ammonia Cycle and seems to be going well.   But I have one outstanding questiion.  viz.  I have purchased the Tetra Nitrate test kit and find this problem.   item 7 in the instructions. states that one must add powder to the solution.  However there is no powder in the kit at all, and no space for it.  The kit contains only 3 bottles!  Any suggestions please?
Hmmmmmmmmmm... seems I cannot upload the attachment.

Use the “imgur” button to upload pictures. The attachment part isn’t working. I’m afraid I can’t help with the test kit as I’ve not used that myself. Have you looked online for instructions? Hopefully someone will be able to help you soon.

Thanks for the advice I will try that.. Regarding my problem, I have emailed the supplier asking if there should be 2 items in the package.

The Tetra Nitrate test kit should contain:-
1 x 19ml test reagent
2 x 10ml test reagents
Test powder and measuring spoon
1 x vial
1 x colour chart
instructions

If any of the above are missing then return it to the supplier as it is not complete.

Most of us use API Freshwater Master liquid test kit which measures pH, high pH, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate.
It's available on-line for around £25 and will last ages (3 years approx.)

Thanks Stephen. I re-checked the pakage and found these:-
Test powder and measuring spoon
1 x vial.

The vial is so tiny I missed it and the spoon measure about 5mm and is almost invisible. :-) (My problem must be age-related LOL) Anyway, the nitrate content is HUGE at the moment. but the tank is only 4 weeks into it ammonia cycle. BTW, as I am just starting out, the tank is quite small being only 15 gallons. Once I get more into the hobby, (I think i have read almost all articles on YouTuble!) I will look for a larger one.. but all in god time.
Again many thanks.
