Malawi Peacock with Tetras
#1
I have very hard water from the tap in my area, around 7.8 Ph and was wondering if I could keep a Hap or Peacock Cichlid with my shoal of 12 African long finned tetras in my 240L tank. I know Malawi Cichlids are aggressive but would one on it's own be ok. Just asking?

It’ll probably kill them all.
I don't keep fish, I keep water. Water keeps fish.

I agree, they will kill, and maybe even eat, smaller fish.
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

any malawi is best kept in a malawi only setup.

An alternative might be one of the Central American cichlids that come from alkaline rivers. Firemouth is the one you’re most likely to see in the shops. They are fairly laid back for a cichlid, much less aggressive than malawis. You could probably have a pair in a tank that size.
