The Discus Six
#1
First six discus babies in the tank...German but the smallest Marlboro red took up position under the wood in the “cave” and decided to have it all to her/him self so chased the others away...once a cichlid always a cichlid!?
All sharing two days later.[Image: 02RgzuYl.jpg]

Do you also have plants?
Discus are very shy and skittish and love lots of cover and hiding places.

Hi Stephen, no plants, bought a couple of artificial but not really big enough...I have more wood and when the magnificenct seven are added in a few weeks it should boost their confidence![Image: dzdAXPMl.jpg]

Are you opposed to plants ?
it will fill it out more and as mentioned offer interest and hiding places for your fish.

Yep, agreed. That tank is very bare so the fish are likely to be more stressed because of the lack of hiding places. More fish won't necessarily change that so I'd suggest getting as many plants as you can afford, e.g. some Vallis at the back and something in the mid and fore grounds.

The more cover you have the more the fish will feel at ease and will be more confident.

Against the grain here, but with discus when they are young your better with larger numbers with less places to hide.
If you give them somewhere to hide they will. They’ll be fine in a bare tank whilst you grow them out.

...especially as you have to do more water changes after feeds. Wink Smile
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!
