Fishless cycle looking good.
#1
Day 25, fishless cycle of a 25ltr planted Betta tank and it is the first day with 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 100ish nitrate.

First time I have cycled without a bacteria additive or sponges etc. from another tank, so 25 days is good. Only problem was the usual PH drop which I think has something to do with our unusual Scottish water.

Hoping the next few tests continue ok.

My hmpk betta has settled so well in my community tank I have decided not to move him over. My OH would like one of the long finned, highly coloured males, so that is what we will go for, hopefully in a week or so.

My stock is made up of black phantom tetras, harleys, black emperor tetras, honey gouramis, sterbai corys, a couple of odd balls and amano shrimp.

Envious am watching for my Nitrates to drop. I can be patient, but am itching to get some fish.
Irked by my daughter in law who rolls her eyes when I tell her that no I haven’t any fish yet as I’m waiting for the right water

Sorry, but do you not mean "waiting for Nitrite to drop".

If I am correct, you can only drop Nitrates, in the main, with water changes.
