Cheltgirl's Sooperteeny Nano Tank
#1
I've been fiddling with this tank for a few weeks now so I guess it's time to keep track of it.

A while back we bought a Fluval Roma 125 from an eBay person, while collecting it the guy said we could have his first tank and handed us a teeny tiny 12L, god knows what he put in it! We've mostly just stored stuff in it until very recently.

This is what I started with

I bought a cheapo led light from ebay for £13. Looks better than I thought it would for that price!! Needed a filter

To make it fit I had to remove a fair few parts

Also needed a heater that I hoped would fit into the filter but didn't Big Grin

Popped some sand in the bottom, covered with some quartz, broke up a couple of Easylife root sticks, filled it, got some plants and it all worked first attempt rofl

So after todays pit stop at MA in Stratford I can now introduce you to......

Captain Picard

Also Commander Riker

Currently they are the only crew of the Startank Aquaprise but hopefully not for long Big Grin

Thanks Suse Smile

With a bit of luck the plants will fill out quickly and it won’t look quite as ‘new’

Although Riker has already disappeared down the back somewhere. I didn’t think I’d be able to lose anything in such a small tank rofl

They are a nerite. Neritina Auriculata aka Batman snails Big Grin

They aren’t like zebra nerite though that leave a trail of those horrible white dots everywhere. We had a zebra once about 7 years ago and some of our bogwood still has dots on it grrrr! All the other nerites we’ve had haven’t left dots.

You have got the condensation tray still on the tank, haven't you? Nerites will climb out....... Wink
If at first you don't succeed....
...get someone else to do it! Big Grin

Enjoy your fish, shrimps and snails!

Wait theres a type of nerite that doesn't have the trail? It's why I ended up taking my Zebras back, hated that trail

I need to make a new one as this one doesn’t fit properly. It’s on there but there are a couple of gaps. Going to get a better Perspex one cut.

Picard and Riker still both present and correct Smile

Just went off for a quick google as I wasn’t sure. It seems that if you have a female she may or may not lay eggs. I must have had a female zebra and the other types either male or didn’t lay. I have no clue how you would tell them apart.

It’s easy to get the eggs off the glass (we have a razor blade scraper thing) but not any decor. I guess it’s a risk you take. But our rabbit snail and larva snails have never left eggs anywhere (unless they’re both boys too)

I’ll let you know about the Batmans (who may be batgirls?!?!) oh crikey!
