Ok, I know there’s a lot of pages on this topic if you do the old google search but in people’s practical experience, what do you do with hair algae?
I must admit I don’t mind the look of it on the wood I have in the tank mounted on the back wall, but when it’s short. However it doesn’t stay short for very long! I’m fed up of trimming it all the time. Am I going to have to face facts and remove the wood and clean it if I want rid?

My tank gets hair algae when the lights are on too long. I love to have the light on for 10-11 hours but had to reduce it to 9 1/2. Plants are still growing well, hair algae gone....that's T5 lights, by the way :)

Thanks @Ric Could be light, mine is on for 12 but it’s LED so it’s on a cycle it’s not just on/off it only peaks for about 3 hours.

I'd still have it on later and off earlier. ;)
I only have my lights on for about 9 hours because I have algae eaters.....
