Aqadvisor was very useful but the site is still down (hacked), hopefully it will be back soon.
How many times do I have to say this, it's not been hacked ;o)

Most recent response here

More specific explanation here

Simplest way to access aqadvisor if you're having problems is to use the Google Cache version at this link
It's been hacked. (or some other terminology such as DNS hijacking)
When going to the Aqadvisor website it takes you to the site page below. (see my image below)
When you use the cache version and attempt to change from "display in gallons" to "display in litres" it takes you to the site page below.
It was hacked a year or so ago and it was hacked earlier this year and remains hacked (or hijacked).
I have several shortcuts to people's aqadvisor information, tank size, filter and stock but none of those shortcuts work as they take me to the website page below.
All other sites and shortcuts work normally except aqadvisor.
All I want to do is to use my shortcuts and see the aqadvisor website with all the information based on those shortcuts. So if the site has not been hacked (or hijacked) then what is the workaround or fix without using the google cache. ?

Ahhh see what you mean about changing to litres.

Easy fix just change your DNS settings on your device to 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare) , instructions for Windows 10 or as some people have done switch to using Mobile data.

Another option is to modify your Hosts file to include

Code: Select all

174.136.13.197	www.aqadvisor.com
Any of the above 3 also allow you to carry on using the bookmarks

Thanks Mike

I have followed the instructions for Windows 10 and change the DNS settings to (Google) 8.8.8.8 with alternate settings to (Google) 8.8.4.4 as per the instructions and saved.
I re-booted the computer.
I then clicked on my aqadvisor bookmarks and it took me to the same page as in the image I posted in my previous post. (see below)
Have I done something wrong?
I did follow the instructions using the Control Panel and then double-checked using the settings.
Is there a setting in my router that I can change (as admin) ?

Edit:
As an after thought, I flushed the DNS cache.
It now works.

Thanks again Mike ::thumb::

I find this very strange as I have been with my current broadband provider (Sky) for two years yet this has only happened within the past 5 months.
It happened once before when I was with my previous provider (the site was hacked).
Why has this only happened with the aqadvisor site?
(That reminds me, I need to barter with Sky over costs as my contract ends in 2 weeks time) ;)

All I can say its " this is why I never use my ISPs DNS servers (or indeed email service) " (and I work in the industry lol)

40ppm nitrates isn't really a problem for most fish.
You could try that, or even try upping the light to 8 hours rather than 7.
I basically use the inch per gallon rule for stock and then take into account the room required for swimming. You can then get more slow swimmers in than fast. ;)

As I struggled to access AqAdvisor too I was also looking at this stocking calculator, is it not so good?
