Sorry to hear about your cat, vet bills can quickly mount up I know, glad you were able to get it sorted, there certainly seems more treatment options available now than there used to be some years ago so that's a good thing.

Yup he will... his first check-up is tomorrow. Atm he's on an antibiotic, two heart medications and two immunosuppressants. We can stop the antibiotic soon and then one of the heart medications, but the others will go on for a few months and maybe forever, depends how he responds when we lessen the dosage :/ I feel blessed to live on 40 minutes away from a specialist vets!

Fingers crossed for him, you're giving him the best chance possible

Just been looking at the small tank pic again, I think Deggs looks more like a boesmani than herbertaxelrodi. If you only have male boesmani then my money would be on a boesmani/herbertaxelrodi hybrid.

Yes definitely agree @KevB. I should post an updated photo of it and it's more obvious now! Will at some point buy some small rainbows to keep him company until he can go in the big tank.

Collecting some rainbows this evening all going well. I went around two LFS but left disappointed in their plant offering. The MA @Galton was abysmal, only had a couple of clumps of sad looking vallis and elodea. The wood I was interested in had no pricing and I think there was only one staff member in the shop who was unavailable. It really shows when people don't care about their shop and when they are passionate.

My plant is to keep it pretty bare at the moment until I get a bit of wood I want. Then I'll plant into the sand around that.

I find the plants will most likely contain snails/snail eggs at LFS.
I buy from Aqua Essentials, Pro Shrimp and Aquarium Gardens.
The order I place with Aqua Essentials on Sunday evening was delivered on the following Tuesday, great service.
I also placed a small plant order with Pro Shrimp earlier today.

All the best

I've been to a few shops with some pretty ropey plant stock, wonder if pandemic and/or Brexit has interrupted supplies temporarily? Glad to hear you are looking around and hope you find the plants and wood that work for you.
