Woo hoo....big box from riverwood has arrived (thankfully about 10 minutes after we got home from visiting my folks!). Let the scaping attempts commence (it’ll be rubbish, don’t expect anything amazing...i’m using the phrase “scaping” in its loosest sense ).

Now now - you've thought about your order - plants and hardscape - so I'm sure you do have some ideas. Looking forward to seeing your tanks progress. In the meantime - have funVikingMummy2015 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 14:19 pm (it’ll be rubbish, don’t expect anything amazing...i’m using the phrase “scaping” in its loosest sense ).

At least without soil, i’m getting a decent chance at practicing rock formations (i’ve Taped off tank sized areas in the hall ). I’ll have several chunks left over (future tanks ) and now i’m just trying to decide which of these arrangements in which tank. Haven’t even added the wood yet .

Ever evolving....the simpler one is for the bigger tank, the more messy one is for the smaller tank which has poorer light etc for plant growth (and trying to hide heater etc a bit!).

Soil arrived (plus freebies). I’ll be up to my armpits in tank tonight . I’ll be dry scaping it then filling it and starting the cycle.
In the kitchen tank, it was back down to 0/0 this morning (so 2ppm ammonia totally processed in 48 hours). Another 0.5ml ammonia added and we’ll see what it’s like tomorrow. I’ll be scaping (eg fiddling with decor and plants) tomorrow which might slow things down again as some of the sand will be coming out. Still no further forward with settling the sticking of it! It will most likely be embers because although we like the look of Badis, i’m Not prepared to put up with sparring males! I almost went back to a Betta but then i’d have to lose the dragon rock and driftwood. I guess i’ll See how my attempts at scaping go over the next few days!

Enjoy the scaping (or play time, as I call it)
Looking forward to the pics and it'll be interesting to see which fish you'll end up with

I’m happy with that hardscape! (Fluval 57L). It’s the planting that’ll go pear shaped.

Stupidly impossible to not get reflections though .
