You sure? Just because its rippling doesn't mean the flow is too much. I've used a bubble fishing float in the past to test flow around the tank. You can fill them with water to half sink them and see what's happening at different depths.VikingMummy2015 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:19 am @Andys temperate tank so am I . It might be I can gradually increase the output so he gets used to it, but he’s a double tail so apparently they struggle a bit more? His current tank is literally zero surface movement as the spray bar directs it against the back wall. For now i’ve Managed to stick some filter floss into the outlet and it’s really calmed things down, but still surface movement (the salvinia is circulating). Let’s face it though, I won’t complain if I decide to keep Ghost in his own tank .Andys temperate tank wrote: ↑Thu Jul 30, 2020 11:29 amYou sure? Nice tanks, indeed. Soon you'll need to set up your own fish house (or perhaps this is where you're headed anyway )
Perhaps once your plants are grown in and you have the tree in place, this might break the filter flow enough? I would just be a concerned about the dragon stone and Ghost's flowing fins being torn.
Or you could use the established smaller filter for the bigger tank; then use the big filter for the smaller tank and have a mini-stream set-up. No idea what could live in that, though..

@Ric i’ve filed the rough edges on the stone. There’s a chunk in his current tank (holding down the wood ) and i’m keeping an eye on him. So far so good.
It’ll be 2 tanks and no more! It’s a council flat and quite an old one at that so there’s just not the space or sockets. One day i’ll maybe have a fish room, if the boy is ever able to live independently. He was the one who got me into fish as he loved watching them in P@H when I took him there on rainy days. Of course now we have tanks, he doesn’t pay the fish any real notice .

I tested at 7.30 (so 19 hours post ammonia dosing).
T2 (Fluval) is 0 ammonia but 0.25 nitrites because i’ve removed some of the media.
T3: is 0 nitrites but 1ppm ammonia . I’ll top both tanks back up to 2ppm and see what tomorrow brings.

So...tested after 12 hours, just because I prefer to test at lunchtime. T3 basically has to do a full cycle despite adding in media from T3 (although hopefully it’ll be about 20 days, same as T2 was). T2 has been knocked back a few days but hey ho.
My freezer also died totally over the course of yesterday afternoon onwards (it was second hand when I got it 2 years ago) but fridge still works at least, and new one ordered last night.
Better news: my plants have arrived from AquaEssentials for T3 so i’ll Do that later.

A productive afternoon’s scaping:
The ludwigia will never look as red, but that’s ok. And the crypt will most likely melt away but i’m adding wood along that bit once i’m ready to move Ghost in, so it won’t be too bare. Forgot the plants would be so much bigger than the tissue culture ones in T2!
And what’s best for the Anubias flower?! Never had a flower on one before!
