Sorry to hear about your freezer; first you worried about the food when you had the power cut, now this.

Tank is looking great, though. Even if the crypts melt a bit, they will grow back. Afternoon well spent ::thumb::

@Ric i suspect the power cut probably caused it to get the “electronic hiccups” as I say to my boy 🤣. I’d been looking to replace it/them (separate fridge & freezer stacked together) just before lockdown but then obviously couldn’t get it properly delivered/old one removed. At least I have the funds so it doesn’t scupper my fish plans either (priorities 😉).

I’m happy with how all the tanks are looking now. T3 will be a joy to watch while i’m in the kitchen during the daytime, then the Fluval at night while i’m on the sofa with my crochet. Just a waiting game now for the cycles to catch up.

I've never done anything with anubia flowers. The clown loaches used to eat them though.......

Sorry to hear about the freezer - our fridge/freezer went a few weeks ago before lock-down was ended. AO were quite good with delivery and taking the old one away next day.

Yay....T2 has caught back up. T3 is making a start at least! Dosed T2 back with ammonia to prevent me from buying fish today....if I can persuade the boy to come out the house this afternoon, the plan is to visit a more local LFS that has a good reputation and might even have the right stock!

I escaped without fish. It’s not as large a store as my friend made out, and the owner said they’re really low on stock. But the fish they had were healthy and breeding (baby Plecos are just sooooo adorable!) and he absolutely knows his stuff eg daily large water changes for discus, oscars in large tanks only (with disparaging comments about stores who’d sell them without checking) etc. So I might see if they can order in my choices (once I decide on them!) as I’d rather support a local business (they actually live in my town, just run the business elsewhere).

Now I just have to decide what to stock and which tank!

OK....after my dithering and dilemma over what to stock where and with who, this is my thinking.

57L Flex: 6-8 cherry barbs and 1-2 gourami (preferably honey but possibly dwarf)
54L long: 10 purple Emperor Tetra and then see if Ghost gets on with them. If he doesn’t then he goes back into solitary (well, Pumpkin the nerite who he completely ignores).

How does that sound?

Sounds like a plan :)

Just wondering about the gouramis: do honeys not prefer a small group of 5 or 6 or am I mixing them up with some other type?
For myself, I'm off dwarf gouramis. Very pretty and cute but the last one I had a few years ago was a complete monster: chasing any guppy or neon in the tank relentlessly, so I had to rehome him.

It’s mixed opinions on whether honeys prefer 1 or groups. They seem so easy going I don’t think it’s a big issue. I’ve now got 8 cherries floating in their bag to start acclimating so the gourami isn’t happening for a wee while anyway 🤣🤣.

8 cherry barbs now exploring their new home...although ordered some extra sponge to baffle the outflow as I think it’s maybe a bit much for them (just from reading up on current/flow etc). They were nicely coloured even in the bag. Leaving the lights off until a bit later, just to let them settle so photos will have to wait until tomorrow. No idea of m/f ratios although I think a mix. They’ve all been sharing tanks with various other fish since January so the LFS guy was sad to see them go. He says the shop is basically his tanks of babies 🤣. Couldn’t argue with £5 for the 8 either!
