Don't they just? ;)

I am assuming you are in London, going by your forum name? If you want any assassins, just give me a shout (I'm in NW5). :)

Depends on your tank size and snail 'problem'.

I got a handful some time ago and now they are breeding. Not excessively, like bladder or ramshorn snails. When all the unwanted snails are gone they will just eat fish food etc.

I do have plenty in my tank, so up to you...:)

Then do think carefully. Once you have assassin snails they will attack any other snails, even larger ones. Last year I tried to add a couple of nerite snails, thinking they'd be far too big for the assassins. Within a couple of days one nerite was completely gone, only the shell left. I managed to rescue the other in a floating trap and rehome it.

Yeah, reading up about assassins snails they seem ruthless and efficient
So no fox in the hen house then huh? Haha
Get rid of the bladder snails with one and then just stick to the one? It’ll eat fish food flakes?

They are part of the clean-up crew and will eat fish food, dead fish or shrimp (if you want to give snails and shrimp a treat, just squeeze the tiniest bit of cooked chicken between your fingers and then drop it in the tank. They're all over it.)

Snails do far more good in an aquarium than people think.
As well as getting rid of excess food and rotting plants (also clearing up any lost dead bodies), they can be the first indication of something being wrong (or right) with the tank.
I think as long as you keep on top of the population by not overfeeding they are seen in totally the wrong light by a majority of fish-keepers.
I was really upset when I lost my stock of bladders and ramshorns in The Great Curtain Rail Crash of 2010.
