Nope, shipped the last of them to @fr499y ...no doubt he'd send you some.Wishafish wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 16:55 pmWhat a great name for a website! Do you still have them @fr499y ? I’m not sure I need any more but I’m curious who else has these?Martinspuddle wrote: ↑Sat Jun 05, 2021 8:24 amNope, shipped the last of them to @fr499y ...no doubt he'd send you some.Wishafish wrote: ↑Fri Jun 04, 2021 16:55 pmWhat a great name for a website! This morning I saw all 4 of the amanos at the same time - the first time this has happened since we got them! During the water change I found an amano shed which is a good sign as whoever has shed it looks fine and feeding well.
Refilling the tank from the hose as it was a nice warm day and the door was open to the garden... and the spray nozzle came off.
Cue lots of yelling, water everywhere, and quite a big clean up. Water up the wall, down the front of the tank including in the cupboard, the carpet everywhere, even managed to spray the dining table which is my makeshift desk so I had to quickly rescue things and dry them. Too much stress for one simple water change!!

I had no idea the amano shrimp would be such competitors for food! They have all learnt about feeding time and have no hesitation in grabbing food from the fish.
I had foolishly assumed these shrimp were captive bred on a large scale like so many other aquarium inhabitants. Having discovered they are wild caught I won’t be getting any more.

They need slightly brackish water for their eggs to hatch and that's a bit of hassle for breeders. Saying that, I have heard of people saying they have had a few extras turn up. Mine are about 7/8 years old now.
You're going to need to help me out with that photo, is it two shrimps or a reflection?

@BigBen yes I knew they wouldn’t usually breed in a normal tank, but like I said it was foolish - I just assumed they were being bred somewhere as they are sold in such numbers! I hope mine are as long-lived as yours.
The photo is a reflection on the surface - the real shrimp is upside down! Despite the internal filter and the circulation pump the frogbit provides some really still areas.

Well well… two of the small “female” Endlers have decided to colour up and they both definitely have gonopodiums. This tips the balance a bit too far to the males, but I will wait and see how they get on. If necessary I can move some males out.

I did had a couple of awesome little yellow tiger endlers, but sadly none made it and no offspring as of yet. It's always interesting to see what you get later down the line
