Thought I would start a tank log.
Currently rocking a 60L
2x cherry barbs
6x Cardinal tetra
Still to add a black background and planning to upgrade to a 105L tank I've got my eye on.
Ordered some maramino moss balls as I'm starting to get back into live plants.
I want to up the cardinal numbers if they settle ok (only added today) not decided what else I'll stock and of course if I get the larger tank I'll have more options.
Below is the best pictures I could get today without startling the new cardinals.
Jack H Aquarium story
I'm 90% convinced myself to go for the 100l tank.
I'll need to upgrade my tank filter. Currently I have a fluval U2 which has been great for years so thinking a U3 would suffice. Am I better running both together till the bacteria builds in the new filter or just take the media and sponges out the old one and place in the new one?
A good sand? I plan to have a 2 tone substrate but want panda Cory's so wont be rocking gravel when the time comes.

You could consider a small external filter. It would free up space in the tank and be more efficient.
Unipac limpopo and samoa are good grain sized sand for corys.

Thanks, I suppose I could but the only thing is I wont be able to fish less cycle it so unless I can use my current cycled media it might be too much for the fish. I really want to avoid a fish in cycle.Andys temperate tank wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 14:23 pm You could consider a small external filter. It would free up space in the tank and be more efficient.

If it was me I'd put your mature media from your U2 in a cannister filter along with as much new media as you can fit into it. Then dose seachem stability for the first week. See how it goes then gradually add new fish.Jack H wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 14:27 pmThanks, I suppose I could but the only thing is I wont be able to fish less cycle it so unless I can use my current cycled media it might be too much for the fish. Might be worth considering, the U2 Media would fit in the U3 and the gaps could be packed with new media as well. I'm quite tight for space which is why 105l is the absolute biggest I could fit in the spaceAndys temperate tank wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 14:32 pmIf it was me I'd put your mature media from your U2 in a cannister filter along with as much new media as you can fit into it. Do as big a waterchange as you can Jack. At least 50%.

Thanks mate done about 50-60% change. Fish seem all good as before. Colour is improving as they settle and they have been out all day in their shoal exploring the tank although have spent most of the time right at the glass on display. Fitted a plain black background today as well.Andys temperate tank wrote: ↑Sun May 23, 2021 15:24 pmDo as big a waterchange as you can Jack. At least 50%.
