End of March update:
Nothing much to report but that may change tomorrow.
Today (Wednesday) I am doing a big water change and removing all the wood and some plants.
I am going to give the wood a bit of a scrub and clean and allow to dry off a bit outside as the weather is so nice.
I'm taking some plants out as they are going wild, I have some new plants (same family but different species) coming tomorrow.
With the wood out I can vacuum the sand underneath as this is where dirt and stuff accumulates.
I will then attempt to have a fish count, not easy but should be easier without the wood and some of the plants.
I did think of catching the fish and placing them in a temporary tank (plastic box with lid) to do the count but thought twice about doing that, so no.
No pictures

Stay safe everyone

Done for today.
Gill gave the wood a bit of a scrub whilst I removed some plants etc..
Those roots were long and thick and kicked up some plant substrate but all syphoned away now.
The tank looks quite bare but should look fine when the new plants arrive and get planted.
The fish won't get fed today as I've kicked up lots of food/debris, the cory are having a field day.
The fish count looks OK and similar to my signature, the cichlids are definitely all there.
Stephen
ps
Before anyone says it, I'll say it first "No pain, no gain".
Stay safe everyone

Today I cleaned filter 1.
I also planted the new plants that arrived this morning, hopefully they'll grow over the next few weeks/months.
Gave the aquarium a dose of liquid fertiliser, liquid potassium and liquid carbon.
I can clearly see 14 x sterbai cory near the front left-hand corner, spotted another 3 x at the back so looks like 17 x sterbai cory as in my signature.
Clearly see 7 x cupid cichlids, 4 x red breast acara and 2 x apisto, so all the cichlids are there.
I tried to count the black widow tetra yesterday, I should have 20 x but counted 18, I'm sure they're all there.
The black neon tetra, I counted 23 x should be 29, I'll do another count, 24 x this time. Without actually removing them counting is difficult.
The serpae tetra are hiding but counted 15 x as are the caudimaculatus cory, I can only see 4 x. I'll see more of the caudimaculatus cory at feeding time.
Edit:
Counted 8 x caudimaculatus cory at feeding time, they are difficult to spot, must be another 2 hiding at the back.
Stay safe & healthy everyone
