It took mine about a year to get to their current size. I’ve been saying they’re 3 inches but I think they might be closer to 4. Fantastic fish. My tank is 4ft and perfect although I wouldn’t really want to go any smaller personally.

What shop is this?WinterRose73 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 23:22 pm @Stephen Ooooh.... Thanks. Food for thought! Tank I saw today was 100cm L x 49 cm W x (I think) 50cm H. Not 100% on the height but the other two are right. So that's a bit over the 3ft mark I think? And I think they said either 230 or 240 litres.
Was almost definitely going for the Eheim vivaline 240, but have found that no way to use anything other than their LED lights - I want to keep the Aquasky. It definitely won't fit, tried in the shop today. The other one I'd seen, the AquaOne Urban is too going to be too deep for me to reach the bottom (same issue as now).
So now considering a Fusion 100. Definitely fits an Aquasky. Looks like very high quality. Can't find an enormous amount online though.

I see.
32 inches is too small for Congo tetra but fine at the moment as they are not fully grown yet.
The Fusion 100 is a bit longer at around 39 inches, that will give the fish an extra 7 inches of swimming space.
The length of the aquarium is more important than the depth & height in respect of swimming space.
If you could fit a 4 foot (48 inches / 120cm) tank (or bigger) in to your dedicated space then that would be even better for the Congo tetra and would give better options for future stocking.
Luckily you have not purchased your new aquarium yet.
All the best

I would always suggest at least a 4' tank.
Congo tetra will grow bigger than 4" if they have the room.
I believe the biggest recorded in a book was about 4.25".

Thanks for the comments
@BigBen This particular tank is in Watermarque in North Petherton.
@Stephen As I'm in a coach house (effectively first floor accommodation) I would be very very anxious going much over 250ltrs for a tank due to the weight of everything. The 120 size Fusion is 330ltrs I think.
@lunar jetman Nice fish
I was really hoping to retain the Congos but as I am unlikely to be able to provide the space they need and if it's best for them I will look into rehoming.

The Fusion 120 is approx 224L capacity (288L volume) compared to the Fusion 100 which is approx 188L capacity (245L volume).WinterRose73 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:47 am @Stephen As I'm in a coach house (effectively first floor accommodation) I would be very very anxious going much over 250ltrs for a tank due to the weight of everything. The extra 36L capacity of water weighs 36kg (79lb/5.6 stone) so only the weight of a child, spread over a 4 foot area isn't going to make much difference, if any.
224L of water weights 224kg (494lb or 35.2 stone), that's about the average weight of 3 adult men (each weighing approx 12 stone).
Get 3 men to stand in a 4 foot area in the coach house and see what happens. (due to social distancing this may not be possible)
I doubt that it will have any affect on the flooring whatsoever but I do understand your concerns.

What's it like out there these days? I've not been in years due to the number of massive fish like RTCs on offer. Was entire tanks full last time I visited.WinterRose73 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:47 am Thanks for the comments
