You should only need one lot of Poly. Take it out after a couple of days and post a photo of it. It turns different colours according to what it has removed.....

I had exactly the same problem with my old tank and, like you, I tried all the meds available and nothing worked. The only thing I have had success with is Seachem Paragaurd – but you have to buy it from the US. It cleared everything up but I lost a few plants in the process.

Sorry you've lost another. :(
Do as BG has said, it does change colour and will show what's going on.

Thanks All,

So I took a look at the poly after a couple of days and it seems a sort of light brown colour. Maybe slightly bronze... See pic, not sure if this tells you anything?

Should I pull it out and go with the Protozin?

Thanks,
Chris.

That looks like it's removing iron (or a lot of brown rubbish) does the conditioner you use remove heavy metals?

I only use Prime for conditioner.

I did a 40% WC and filter clean 48 hours ago, and have hardly fed the fish since, so hopefully not just crap from the tank.

Cheers

Iron turns it orange. Looks a normal brown to me like regular organics, nothing untoward...

It is a light brown, but has a slight orange tan to it...

I think I’ll get it out tomorrow and start the Protozin, unless anyone thinks that the 3rd round of meds is a bad idea.
