Another addition to the pond? Are you turning into an animal hoarder, @Ruth ?

Ah, just had to check back. He is one of your new additions and is only in the pond to 'treat' the other fish

Well, the rescued ones wanted some friends and I like to give them what they want . They have quite a wee gang going on.

Must actually test the water. Would the test kit for the indoor tank do?
Disaster struck this morning - one of the new fish came with a white lump on his tail that I didn’t see until I got him home. Put him in (was about 3 weeks ago), and he was fine - this morning he was ‘lying’ among the plants and very lethargic, with half his tail missing from about where the lump had been. I’ve taken him out and put him in a bucket and waiting for LFS to open

So I shouldn’t have taken him out apparently. I’ve put him back in the pond and going for an antibacterial treatment for the whole pond. Apparently they are also known to bask in the sun!

I have heard that koi can get sunburn, hence the need to shade their pond. Whilst I've seen goldfish enjoying the sun I always thought they can self-regulate and just swim off, when they get too hot.
Hope the lump thing is not contagious and treatable.
